Finnish design pioneer Oiva Toikka’s iconic collection of Iittala glass birds took flight in 1972 with a new bird joining the flock every year. Combining Toikka’s passion for nature and blown glass art, each bird is a one of a kind art object. Handcrafted and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory, the collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions and Toikka’s partnership with his team. Birds by Toikka Long-Eared Owl showcases the artist’s playful whimsy and unlimited imagination. The owl’s dome shaped body is marked with iridescent speckles while his protruding ears and sharp eyes give him a look of perpetual curiosity.
