Michael sj Beckler Art Exhibit

  • The Passdoor 452 1st St E Ste A Sonoma, CA United States (map)

Since the first time I saw the work of M.C. Escher, I have been interested in geometric shapes and patterns, his works influenced my first detailed inking's. Since then, I have experimented with many art mediums; water color, charcoal, glass, fabrics, paper, etc. and enjoy finding interesting ways to combine them. For the most part I'm a self taught artist, my influences include the great architect Gaudi, painters Rex Ray and Enrico Donati. The colorful textured/pattern work that Gaudi injected into his architecture, complex colorful detailed forms of Rex Ray and the use of different materials in the late works of Enrico Donati have had a lasting affect and a great influence as to where my art is now. My pieces are colorful layered forms (as many as 14 layers)...graphic….yet free flowing...creating three dimensional feelings through the use of bright acrylic paints, epoxy, glass and paper. The final work is a 3-dimensional view of countless patterns, applied on a 2- dimensional format, some have labeled it Abstract Illusionism. My work has been collected by corporations and art collectors in America, Europe & Asia.
